Revelation Verse-by-Verse Study

Studying God’s Word carefully, one verse and one chapter at a time

Introduction to Revelation

Many people have a difficult time understanding the final book of God’s Word. Because Revelation is filled with vivid imagery, symbolic language, and prophecy, some become overwhelmed and eventually give up trying to understand it.

But God did not give us this book to leave us confused. Revelation 1:1 tells us that it was given “to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass.” God wants His servants to read it, study it, and understand the message He has given us.

When we slow down and take Revelation verse by verse, reading each passage in context and comparing Scripture with Scripture, it begins to flow. We are able to see what our Father is teaching us and how the events described throughout the book fit together.

It is also important to know that the Book of Daniel is a companion book to Revelation. Daniel was shown many things concerning the final days, but he was told to “shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end” (Daniel 12:4). Some of what Daniel was shown would not be fully understood until the proper time.

Revelation, on the other hand, means an uncovering, a disclosure, or something being revealed. Through this remarkable book, the events of the end time are brought into fuller understanding. Revelation reveals Jesus Christ in His glory, warns us of the events that will unfold at the end of this age, and shows us the complete victory of God and His kingdom.

Although Revelation contains solemn warnings and powerful prophecy, its message is ultimately one of hope. Jesus Christ will return, Satan will be defeated, and every promise God has made will be fulfilled.

This is why Revelation is so important for God’s servants, especially for the generation living in the final days. Our Heavenly Father gives us His Word so we can watch, understand what is coming, and recognize the order in which the events occur. By knowing the truth, we can remain faithful, overcome, and endure the tribulation of the antichrist until the end.
