Day 3: Faith Begins with a Seed
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Have you ever found yourself wishing you had more faith? Most of us have felt that way at one time or another, usually when we’re in the midst of a difficult situation. It’s easier to trust God when things are going our way, right? Yet the true test of faith is trusting Him in all situations.
Today’s promise is essential to your daily walk with God because in order to please Him, we must have faith (Hebrews 11:6). And this verse shows us exactly where that faith begins.
Condition/Action:
Faith begins and grows by reading God’s Word.
God isn’t asking you to pretend you believe in Him. He wants you to come as you are–questions, doubts, and all. Even a whisper of trust, like “Lord, I want to believe. Please help me,” is enough for our Father to draw near to you.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
That moment of honesty is a precious seed to God. As you continue reading His Word, He nurtures that little seed until it takes root and begins to grow, changing your thoughts and transforming your life in ways you may not even imagine today.
Encouragement:
Faith doesn’t always start with certainty. Sometimes it begins in the midst of pain, confusion, or even complete doubt. But Jesus never turned away those who struggled to believe.
When a desperate father cried out, “I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24), Jesus didn’t reject him. Instead, He showed compassion and healed his son.
And when the disciples cried, “Lord, increase our faith!” (Luke 17:5–6), Jesus reminded them that even faith as small as a mustard seed is powerful enough to move mountains.
If your faith feels fragile today, don’t be discouraged. Let that push you closer to God, not further away.
Our Heavenly Father loves us. When you bring your doubts to Him, He isn’t angry. He’s patient and understands the struggles you face.
To build faith in God, we need to know Him. The only way to truly know Him is to spend time in His Word. That’s where faith begins, and how it grows stronger.
