Day 2: God Provides

Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

This is what Jesus taught during His Sermon on the Mount, right after reminding us not to worry about what we’ll eat, drink, or wear. Christ didn’t promise us that we’ll get everything we want, but He assures us that when we make God our number one priority, He will provide everything we need.

Condition/Action:

Put God first in your life. Seek His kingdom and righteousness above all else.

To seek first the kingdom of God means to pursue God’s will above our own. To seek His righteousness is to do what’s right in His eyes, not just what feels right in the moment.

Encouragement:

When life feels uncertain, remember this: God is not. He is your Rock, and your foundation is secure in Him. Your Heavenly Father knows what you need before you even ask, and He cares deeply for you. When you truly put Him first, He will provide.

Don’t chase after the things of this world – you’re not of this world anymore. Instead, chase after God, and He promises to take care of the rest.

Take a moment to examine your life, and be brutally honest with yourself. What or who comes first? Do you spend time with your Heavenly Father in prayer? Do you read and study His Word?

If the only time you think about Him is on Sundays, or you only pray as a last resort, then you’re not really putting Him above all else. In fact, He may be much lower on your list of priorities than you realize – or want to admit.

But the good news is, you can turn that around right now:

The moment you turn to Him, He turns to you.

He welcomes you with love, not with anger.

He’s waiting for you with open arms.

James 4:8
Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.
